Hush Hush

WARNINGS! The second paragraph may contain spoilers if you haven’t already read the book :D

So when I saw the cover for this book, I thought WOW! That looks amazinggg!! I was totally hooked, which is one of the great things you can have for a book, a great selling, eyecatching cover by Becca Fitzpatrick. I read some reviews on Amazon (as I usually do) and it didn’t get that many great reviews and I saw that the lead guy’s name is Patch- and I was thinking ‘why the hell would you name the lead Patch seriously, it sounds more like your best friends dogs name’, I was a bit put off and was like I’d never be able to take this seriously because of his ridiculous name. But then my friend suggested reading it, so I was like okay okay, and you know what I’m glad she did. The story follows a girl named Nora Grey a devoted student striving for a college scholarship, living with her widowed mother (even though her mum is gone for most of the time and is pretty MIA throughout the story) in a country farmhouse outside of Portland. Everything is going well with school and her best friend Vee when suddenly out of thin air her biology teacher decides to change seating plans. Enter Patch, a dangerous, dark, confident (some would say arrogant) sexy guy with a secret that will change Nora’s whole life (oh and he also smokes cigars).
When I first started reading it, I was trying so much to suss out what Patch was like, or what he was feeling or what he was thinking, because sometimes with some authors you can figure out a character before the lead heroine does and you’re like: Oh I knew that!! But the author did such a good job of hiding his history and life until she wanted you (the audience) to know. And I love how forthcoming patch is; it makes for good conversation and funny moments but at first I thought he was a little creepy too just like Nora. Nora was pretty cool too, she wasn’t a bad heroine and I could totally relate to her in many different ways, she’s brave and when she’s scared she’s smart enough to shy away from it.  She tries to evade Patch for the most part and it wasn’t like in some books, where the girl just goes running after the brooding dark guy. There were some really steamy scenes between them. Vee her best friend was really funny at times eg. “I’m starting a petition to have Coach fired,” Vee said, coming to my table. “What was up with class today? It was watered-down porn. He practically had you and Patch on top of your lab table, horizontal, minus your clothes, doing the Big Deed ", but i found her a bit boy-obsesses and was a bit stupid trusting Elliot and Jules . However there was just too much mystery in the book with the storyline and too many twist and turns, too much weird stuff going on like the spine-chilling assassin guy and too many people after Nora. I didn’t really like Elliot and Jules when they were first introduced, they seemed a bit off, too good to be true. I found the author’s approach on angels pretty different from others and I loved it, like for example you can see into his memories and life with a touch of his back where his wings are, how awesome would that be. I love how he becomes her guardian angel at the end too, when I saw the bit where he said he gave up a human body all for her i was like awwww! How sweet! All in all, I thought it was a pretty good book with a story leaving me wanting so much more.
I CANNOT WAIT for Crescendo, which is the next book in the series; the name is just so alluring and mysterious and i have been pretty much scouring the web for any more excerpts of the book. I am officially obsessed. If you haven't read it yet, i recommend you should.

Morganville Vampires Glass house

Glass house is the first book of the series. Now I have to say when I first started reading it, I was a bit bored; it started off very slow, Claire was too wimpy and whiny for my taste, even thought she was Einstein intelligent and was the smallest in size and age she just didn’t seem like a heroine. Monica seemed like a bitch from hell and in need of a good beating, I mean seriously she seemed a bit overdramatic, she tried to KILL Claire just because Claire made her look stupid unintentionally. It seemed a bit unrealistic to be honest. I actually just stopped reading it and did …….. Maths revision -.-  and if you know me, you’d know I hate maths with a passion!!! Then after a while I picked up from where I left from even though it was very painful I carried on and it finally started getting good especially when roommates Punk Rock Eve, Hotty Shane and Soulful Michael were introduced in the book and the Glass House. As the book goes on she discovers more about the strange town as does the reader, she learns about vampires, protection, rules, who are in charge, a long-lost secret book. She receives a visit from her parents which I never thought would happen and faces a huge attack. It ends with a MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER which is leaving you wanting to read the next book in the series. This book is jam-packed with action! I loved the new take on a ghost which was Michael being like a real person at night but then just disappear into thin air, literally!  I loved the twist about Oliver, and Amelie was just a strange character for me. But I loved the bickering between Shane and Eve, and they're comments about things are just plain hilarious. I’m not going tell you more and give away the full story in case your one of the newbies and have never read this series! My advice-if you were bored like me with it at the start hang in there and keep reading, it will get better!
